Study in the Austria
Why study in the Austria?
Requirements for entry into Austrian Universities
To be admitted as a regular student in Austrian university degree programs, foreign citizens or stateless individuals must meet the following requirements:
- Availability of a study place:The university must have an open spot in the desired course of study.
- Education qualifications: The applicant must possess an A-level or high school diploma that is considered equivalent to an Austrian Matura examination certification. This equivalence can be determined through established agreements or decided on a case-by-case basis by the vice chancellor, with specific requirements if necessary. Alternatively, the applicant must provide proof of completing a minimum three-year study at another accredited post-secondary educational institution.
- Acceptance in home country:The education certification must be sufficient for acceptance into the desired course of study at a university in the country where it was acquired. Any study-related requirements, such as entrance examinations, must be fulfilled in the country where the A-level or high school diploma was issued. If the desired course of study is not offered in the home country, proof of acceptance into the most similar course of study should be provided. Only if the home country does not have a university, this proof is not required.
- German language proficiency: The applicant must have sufficient knowledge of the German language. If necessary, an examination may be required to demonstrate language proficiency.

Download, print, and diligently fill out the visa application form. This is a crucial step in the process.
Ensure all required documents are meticulously organised before you submit your application. All documents must be in either English or German. If legalisation is necessary, verify the requirements with your local representative authority in advance.
Arrange an appointment to submit your application. Visas are processed by representative authorities within your country, which can be either an embassy or consulate. Once you've identified your local office, book an appointment for the submission of your application.
